Cellophane – A Clear Winner

Lime Flower Cellophane

Lime Flower Cellophane

One of the core packaging products used in the floristry industry and indeed in many other creative sectors is Cellophane. Cellophane was invented back in 1908 by a Swiss textile engineer who wanted to create a waterproof, clear protective material, and by 1927 Cellophane had been patented.

Today customers not only want a waterproof, clear product; they also want stylish, colourful, fun and funky designs to enhance their creations. Our latest addition to our cellophane range is all of the above and more!

The Flower Design range is a pearlised, Nasturtium style flower in Purple, Lime and Pink against a clear background, this of course will compliment the new Pearlised Transporter boxes.  This  quirky flower pattern is randomly scattered over the clear cellophane, each flower is partially ‘blocked in’ colour and partially outline, almost like a photo in the negative.  This is not one for the client who prefers the more traditional or cute designs , it will appeal to the young, trendy customer as it has that feeling of pizzazz about it!

In the floristry industry  alone, Cellophane is a multipurpose product, it can be used as a simple gift wrap for a single rose or specimen flower, to completing the finishing touches of  a Hand Tied arrangement or large Flat Bouquet.

Florists are always looking for a new way to use their creativity and design flair: cellophane scrunched up and placed in a vase can either provide ‘levels’ to balance or stack various floral accessories on or in, and will also provide an interesting  texture to the water disguising or hiding the stems.

Aqua packs of course require cellophane as the waterproof liner for the flowers to sit in, but with a stylishly designed cellophane, this product then takes practicality to a different level. Cellophane is also a stunning presentation tool: shredded or scrunched up, it then acts as a cushion for delicate or fragile items in baskets, hampers, ceramics and glassware. And then to finish, the same or co-ordinating cellophane can be used as the decorative wrapping – and with the flexibility of cellophane, size and shape of the item to be wrapped is not a problem.

Cellophane is truly a versatile, durable product which keeps up with the demands of the creative florist – it’s a Clear Winner!
